At JW Lees, we have a wide range of beers on offer. From our staples in our Core Range that are available all year round; the iconic Bitter and MPA to our Seasonal Ales that explore beer styles outside of the range. We also have a small-batch microbrewery which offers innovative craft brewers for those wanting something a little different.

It’s been in the making for nearly 200 years; we have mastered our brewing craft, with a core range of classic bitters, pale ales and lagers. All brewed with the same care and tradition, like we first did in 1828.

Every year we release a series of seasonal cask ales that change throughout the year. Our seasonal range compliment the fine British weather from fresh citrus ales perfect for sunny beer gardens, to festive spiced brews ideal for cosy fire side chats.

In a quiet corner of our brewery yard, up a small, clanky metal staircase, is an unassuming green door. Behind it once stood the boiler, now redundant and removed, the steam ceased to billow above the old boiler house. Until now. With the void created by the removal of the boiler tank, we gained space for a different kind of tank and, above all, a space to think. A thirst for experimentation is part of our DNA: lagers in the 50s, Moonraker in the 60s, Harvest Ale in the 80s, and any number of seasonal ales and collaborations more recently. Today, behind that small green door is where we brew our small batch beers. It’s a place to foster that spirit of innovation and to explore distinctive, challenging new beers—brewing them with integrity in just the right amounts. We’re on a mission to experiment with new styles and varieties of beers, but with nearly 200 years of brewing history behind us. This is the next chapter of Greengate Brewery’s story. And when we talk of this initiative, this innovation, it will simply be known as The Boilerhouse. Here we produce innovative craft beers, collaborating with our beer friends including Cloudwater, Thornbridge, Salt, Seven Brothers and many more.
