For the First time in many years hotels have been overtaken as the number one wedding venue type according to Bridebook’s 2024 report.

Currently engaged couples who have booked their wedding venue in 2024 for future years, have for the first time picked barns as their number one wedding venue. This highlights the continued growing trend for more bespoke, rustic and unique wedding venues. Hotels still held the torch in 2023, making up a whopping 21% off all wedding venues. However, barns are giving hotels a run for their money in 2024. The report shows barns now taking 21% of all venues booked in 2024 and hotels slipping to 19%.

You can still have your wedding cake and eat it too with JW Lees hotels.

Hotels will always sit close to the top of preferred wedding venues due to the very nature of the venue. They are a one stop shop for weddings. With upfront wedding packages, space for both ceremony and service, on-site catering and of course accommodation, hotels make wedding planning much easier. So, what’s lacking? Why the drop in hotel weddings? Hotels tend to be clinical, polished to perfection and lack rustic charm. Luckily, we have a beautiful range of inns & hotels that deliver on both practicality and personality.

There are more options down south.

With London being 77% higher than the national average wedding cost, it is no surprise that only 41% of all Londoners get married in London. Luckily up North paints a pretty picture for loving couples, with the Northwest of England being -15% cheaper on average. Wales offers huge saving potential being -28% cheaper than the national average. If you are considering a rural and affordable wedding venue in Wales, check out Trearddur Bay Hotel

Whilst price is always going to be the major factor in your wedding plans, style and character is never far behind. 20% of couples want a unique venue and ceremony. Enters, the humble British pub. Pubs offer a unique and cosy atmosphere that can make your wedding feel warm and personal. The spaces are just the right size for you to add your own personal mark through flowers, decorations, foliage, lights, signs, anything you can think of to make your wedding your own without the need to blow the budget. Pubs & Inns also tend to be more flexible when it comes to food & drink options as they don’t have up front wedding packages, meaning you can create your own along with the venue organisers. And of course, pubs offer a huge array of drink options, meaning your guests will be spoilt for choice.

At JW Lees we have considered all options when it comes to your wedding day. From high-end, all in one hotels to charming country pubs, we have the ideal venue for you.
