We’ve teamed up with Indy Man Beer Con and Zapato to make an environmentally conscious beer ‘to start conversations’ – Hops Are Green, an extra special Bitter. Using fresh green Goldings hops, picked, delivered and in the brew within 6 hours. This ingredient lowers the carbon footprint being unkilned, usually hops are cured to preserve and intensify their flavour.
Our Head Brewer, Michael Lees-Jones, says ‘’ We are experienced in adapting as the world changes around us. In order to stay relevant, and to keep pouring beer for the next 200 years, we need to remain curious and to experiment with different ideas. We think it is great that the IMBC team are asking questions about sustainability in beer as we consider how we can be a more sustainable brewery.”
To taste, this beer gives a nod to our classic Bitter but giving a fresh new twist using low CO2. It is amber in appearance and has floral aromas with a fresh toffee flavour and smooth mouthfeel.
So where can you try a pint of this fresh craft pint? It’ll be available at Rain Bar, Gullivers and Port Street. We also have a small amount on sale for free trade customers and our Pub Partners too – but when it’s gone, it’s gone!
