Blue Pits Inn
Our Amenities
The Blue Pits Inn is located in Rochdale. It gets its name from the blue clay that was dug here when the canal was being built, and the area subsequently being called Blue Pits. The former railway building is steeped in history with the pubs unusual cellar which used to be an old morgue complete with its original slabs. Leading from here is a bricked up tunnel which used to go from the morgue, underneath the canal, to an air raid shelter.
The Blue Pits is a friendly local, situated in the centre of Castleton easily accessible by bus or train. You can expect a range of JW Lees cask ales and lagers. The pub has three drinking areas with pub games in the taproom. Regular quiz nights and karaoke are a feature. This former railway building has a beautiful tiled mosaic of John Willie Lees on the outside wall.
